What’s a Growler?
Growlers are 64 ounce jugs of fresh keg beers from our in-store tap systems. Each LB carries an ever changing assortment of fresh and seasonal beers on tap. Reusable Growler jugs are $3.00 each. 64 ounces of fresh tap beers at LB’s Growler Heaven!

In days gone by, to rush the growler (sometimes to roll the growler and other forms) was to take a container to the local bar to buy beer. The growler was the container, usually a tin can. To quote a Harper’s Magazine article of July 1893: “In New York a can brought in filled with beer at a bar-room is called a growler, and the act of sending this can from the private house to the public-house and back is called working the growler.”

The term survives to this day, but the growler is usually a ½ gallon jug of beer.

At Liquor Barn, this tradition continues with several varieties of fresh draft beer at each store. The empty growlers (½ gallon glass jugs) are available for sale ranging from $3.00 for a no frills glass jug with a screw cap, to around $30.00 for a metal handled growler with a ceramic flip-top cap. 

When you look in your fridge and find your growler empty, just bring it back in to any Liquor Barn store to purchase a refill. Our constantly changing draft beers varieties cover a wide range of American Craft beer favorites and quality imported beers.
